Dear Readers, Another month, another meeting. First some clarifications from last meeting - I was wrong, it was in fact adults from the newbury Day Centre who have mental and physical disabilities that came to help us not mencap - thanks to them and their team leader. Our latest meeting was held on Saturday 29th October 2005 and we had the pleasure to meet Debbie Bartlett, a consultant in Rural Development amongst other things. Debbie had some excellent material on the sorts of things we need to think about and where we might source some of that information. Bottom line is that we probably have more diligence to do on the 2 sites in terms of fauna, mammals, legalities etc. On the one hand it was good to hear the full scoop, on the other it was crikey more work, pass me another digestive will you Angela. So like all good businesses we carry on - we may even have a Mission Statement you know (that's just our overall aim in English)! SDWB/Nov 2005 What we will try and do is to log in here all the old news items, so you will be able to click through to specific dates and meeting outputs etc. Please bear with us as we design and update the site. Thank you. SDWB 8th November 2005.
Last meetings notes: Our Management Committee met at the end of September at Leckhampstead Village Hall to the welcome news that we have been granted just over £20,000 for our lhi. Composed of long standing locals and some relative newcomers to the area (less than 20 years!), we started to map out what we needed to do, who can do it, and when it needs to be done by the lhi people provide some pretty good templates for the sorts of decisions and actions needed, and we have another meeting on Saturday 29th October at 10am in the village hall to discuss this, under the auspicious title of 'Management Training'. In the meantime we have allocated various roles and responsibilities, one of which is keeping this website up to date where possible. Already some local children from a mencap school in newbury have been helping to clear some of the bridleways in preparation for further work and we are grateful to them - let's hope they enjoyed it too! If anybody has any ideas for this site or the overall project then please contact Leckhamsptead Parish Council. Updated: 24th October 2005/SDWB.
