The Heritage of the Pang Valley
Location: West Berkshire

The Pang Valley is on the edge of Berkshire's "Silicon Valley". It is home to an increasingly transient population employed by the large number of "high tech" organisations along the M4 corridor.

The area covers 160 sq km of West Berkshire and incorporates 15 parishes which lie wholly within the North Wessex Downs.

The project is centring around a book of essays. These essays include:

  • The History of Ashampstead Common;
  • Watermills on the Pang;
  • Industry in the Valley, A Berkshire Village in the 20th century;
  • 60 Years of Farming and Plants and Flowers.
  • The project has published a book, produced a travelling exhibition, guided walks, events and have organised other activities such as conservation days. All of the project's work is involving the local community.
