This project is enhancing the enjoyment of local wildlife for local people. It is also creating a baseline for the future monitoring of its diversity.
The project is undertaking an archive examination of old records to determine how the habitat has been shaped in the recorded history of Fernhurst.
In particular, the project is looking at heritage features such as the Roman tile works, the later brick works, and the 17th century iron works. All have had significance for the local landscapes and wildlife diversity.
Additionally, the project is examining records of boundaries, ancient barns and other buildings. It is doing this within the context of habitats for species such as bats and barn owls.
