scanning day
Location: West Sussex

Photo-scanning event May 14th 2005
Fishbourne Club from 10.00 a.m to 2.30 p.m.

Over a hundred people brought more than 300 photographs and slides to be scanned on the spot by three teams of scanners. Other photos and memorabilia were loaned or donated to the Fishbourne Book and Photo Archive Project and copies of them all will be stored for posterity in the Fishbourne Photo Archive in the West Sussex Record Office in Chichester. A good number will be used in The Fishbourne Book.

By 11 o’clock, Fishbourne Club had the buzz of a BBC Antiques Roadshow with a queue of people waiting to have their documents examined and copied.

To add to the enjoyment, David Rudkin, Director of Fishbourne Roman Palace, was on hand to chat about the exciting new developments at the Palace. Chichester District Museum provided a display of artefacts from the 1950s which stimulated many nostalgic recollections. Caroline Adams and Clare Snoad from the West Sussex Record Office brought a display about Fishbourne village and offered their expertise throughout the event. A display of ‘Faces from the Past’ attracted a lot of interest.

If anyone has more Fishbourne photos or memorabilia please contact any member of the Project Team.
