Peasemore Landscape Archeaology Project
Location: Wokingham

This community-based project intends to use a wide range of historical and archaeological techniques to investigate the past and improve understanding of the local heritage.

They wish to purchase equipment to do non-invasive surveys; the equipment requires little technical know-how so will encourage a wide range of users. The project will also try to locate a missing stone circle, establish a timeline for the village and map the changes in its historic footprint, find out more about the older houses in the village (15th-19th C), investigate the landscape around the village and capture, record and publish the social history of Peasemore.

The results of the project will be published in an academic work with technical annexes which will be published throughout the project leading up to the major work, a guidebook with a DVD of oral histories done by residents with memories of the village in the early 20th century, education packs, public lectures and a mobile exhibition. There will also be a series of Open Days with specific invites to the local primary and secondary schools.
