Bodmin Riding: Hunting the beast
Location: Cornwall

Bodmin Riding is an ancient celebration unique to Bodmin dating back to the 15th century based on events leading to the hanging of the town's mayor. The project aims to revive this ancient celebration by involving the whole community in the design, manufacture and performance of the tradition. It is particularly designed to involve young people but there will be many opportunities for the whole community to participate in workshops run by experts such as costume design and musicians and be able to learn and apply a wide range of new skills.

The project aims to be sustainable using a high quality, inclusive performance that will capture the imagination of residents and visitors alike and will give the community the tools to engage the town in a celebration of it's tradition in a dynamic and evolving way. A permanent exhibition of the costumes and paraphernalia surrounding the tradition will be placed in Shire Hall.
