Penlee Quarry Digital Heritage Project
Location: Cornwall

This project is an intergenerational project that aims to increase the understanding, appreciation and relevance of their local heritage through the development of a digital archive.

It will explore the heritage of Penlee Quarry by bringing old and young residents together to create a resource for the future. Technical training made available to volunteers will enable them to gain the skills required to photograph, film, edit and upload their own materials to the archive and to record oral histories.

A film documentary is also to be made which will be shown at a local cinema and produced on a DVD. The project will culminate in a booklet, an exhibition and a performance that celebrate the local heritage and raises awareness of local heritage to the wider community.

An NBS application has been made for 3 laptop computers and specialist hardware and software to do outreach work with the less able, and elderly members of the community to have active involvement in the project from their own homes.
