The Ordinalia Project
Location: Cornwall
The Ordinalia Project is the production of the Ordinalia Trilogy. The trilogy was written in the 15th Century by the canons of the collegiate monastery at Glasney and believed to have been preformed, for hundreds of years, at St Just, Cornwall.
The Ordinalia Company's productions are believed to be the first time in many years that the community has come together to preform all three plays. The Company preformed one play every summer for three years.
On completion of the third and final play the project had achieved:
the celebration of the historic and contemporary Cornish culture; revived interest in the Cornish language; raised awareness of local cultural heritage in the Plen-an-Gwary amphitheatre in the St. Just area; increased community cohesion and economic benefit by performing contemporary revivals of the Cornish miracle play cycle known as the Ordinalia. We have an hour of video clips, highlights and interviews from all three of the plays. Just click the audio/video on the right to view.
