Baring Gould Study Break & Folk Festival
Location: Devon

The project is stimulating greater awareness and interest in the traditional songs of the area. These songs originate from the western area of Devon and they form part of the customs and traditions of the locality.

Local people are involved with researching songs and their background. The group have direct access to many of the song manuscripts, and also have permission to bring them to life through live performance.

The project is also producing a festival and a study break. There is a high level of local community participation in both organising and participating in the study break and festival. Currently about 500 people are helping in the project.

At the completed festival there will be workshop seminars, concerts and a community feast with traditional recipes made with local produce.
