Bigbury Community and Landscape Project
Location: Devon

The project aims to identify, explore and describe how the local coast and landscape has been used by people from prehistory to present day with the express aim of characterising and promoting heritage to local people and the wider community.

This will be achieved through the use of archaeological investigations and historical document study. It will include field walking, surveying, and sample excavations undertaken by local volunteers. This will be as an addendum to previous work undertaken by local groups which has examined medieval times.

The project will be overseen by the local history society with professional support from Bournemouth University and Devon CC, who will help local people to learn and develop new skills.

The group will produce additions to the already existing archive along with published literature, information sheets, visual survey plots an archaeological archive, a display of artefacts in the local museum, a website and a photographic and film record.
