Braunton Bulb Farm "A Growing Business"
Location: Devon

This project aims to involve the community in recording local memories of the bulb farm, a local important employer until 1969 and raise the awareness of it as a nationally and internationally important player in commercial horticulture.

Artefacts and photographs and research into some new material that has come to light will be presented in a variety of exhibitions, talks and books as well as through a DVD.

To make people aware of the number of ‘produced’ daffodils that are now growing wild in the area through walks and a photographic competition will also be held.

This project will validate the experiences and memories of local people and gain appreciation of an important part of Braunton’s economic and industrial history and provide greater understanding of the role of the bulb farm in the wider field of horticultural history of the 1930’s and 40’s.
