Broadwoodkelly Local History Project
Location: Devon

Using information contained in an old school log of 1905 – 1945, the aim of the project is to produce a local history booklet and CD based on this period, together with an oral record of regional accents, personal recollections and reminiscences of those who attended school at this time.

By doing this, the project aims to promote an appreciation of the unique local history of this small parish and encourage others to conduct further research on their own. Local people will be involved in the preparation, collection and collation of material for a book using personal reminiscences and archives.

The local school will be involved in recording their impressions of school and home life via photographs; this work will be the basis of an exhibition which will bring all the elements together for the community to decide on the final images and content for the book.

Along the way, local dialects will be recorded and a CD Rom and a website created to ensure the preservation of local elements and that all material relating to the project will be accessible to all.
