The Broadhempston Society
Location: Devon

The aim is to create a digital archive of the community’s history and heritage making it readily and widely available and to instill a sense of identity, belonging and pride in Broadhempston. The recording of modern events will also be added to the archive to ensure continuity.

The local community will be involved in the collection of old photographs, maps and documents and the recording of memories and local accents – all material will then be digitised and a website with associated database created.

Themed booklets, a heritage trail with leaflet, postcards and posters will also be created for free distribution to the local community and for sale at cost to visitors. Free copies will be distributed to all residents and local schools. Those involved in the project will be able to access many training opportunities such as DTP, photography and oral history interview techniques.
