This project has improved accessibility and promoting awareness of a local heritage feature - a former bathing pool, created in Victorian times within a local river.
The project created on-site interpretation and an information leaflet which explains the history of the pool and its relevance to local customs and traditions.
The opening ceremony, on completion of the project, was be celebrated with an historic costumed event, performed by local people, demonstrating how the pool was once used. This is to become an annual event.
The group have developed a path, which is capable of being used by all, including the less able, and which creates a link between the feature and the nearest public right of way.
The original notice board dating from the 1920s has been salvaged and is displayed in the local museum along with other information about the project.
The permission of the landowner has been granted for this project and the site has become publicly accessible at all times.
