Westward Ho! Community History Project
Location: Devon
The aim of the project is to raise awareness and understanding of various aspects of the local heritage of the village of Westward Ho! by involving local people in investigating and collecting information to be used in interpretative material. Outputs will include a folder containing up to twelve history leaflets based on Town Walks, covering subjects such as literary history, local traditions such as “pot walloping”, surfing history, surviving petrified forest etc. A collection of oral histories and photographic reference will be produced to mount traveling displays backed by talks from local volunteers for schools, old people’s homes and the community at large.
