EXHIBITION
Location: Dorset
On Saturday and Sunday 8th and 9th October 2005 there was the BUILDING BRIDGES EXHIBITION
THE EXHIBITION The artistic outcomes of the project were brought together at Drimpton Village Hall for a free exhibition for the benefit of villagers. Photography, Art, Video and Textile were combined. All the work revealed artistic responses to our stream, now known as The Little Axe. The following work was displayed: - examples of monoprints and mixed media work made by Keith Tubb. His work has clear realistic starting points but has developed along semi-abstract lines evoking the spirit of place. - examples of watercolour paintings and sketches made by Jenny Beck. Her work shows a warm affection for her home stream. It charts the details of small places. - examples of photography made by Jennie Banks. Her work shows both her attraction to landscape forms and her regard for local people. - the film, Reflections, made by Tim Fogg and shown in DVD format. His film sets a kaleidoscope of close-up images of the stream to a backing track made up of samples of young people’s voices. Together they capture the relationship of water and childhood. - the textile made by 40+ villagers led by Rosemary Shepherd. Four large panels show our stream and village bridge - both old and new – across the seasons and crafted in a range of textile skills.
