Halstock Memories Project
Location: Dorset

The project aims to create an audio/visual archive of the village of Halstock covering the last 80 to 100 years where none currently exists through interviewing the village residents to create a picture of life in the area over the specified period. Particular importance will be placed on preserving local accents, which may change over time.

It is expected that 125 people will be involved in implementing the project and an estimated further 800 local people will benefit from the outputs. Children from three local schools at primary and comprehensive level will also be involved and will be able to use the outputs as part of their studies. The outputs will be made available in both ‘raw’ and finished forms with unedited versions of interviews being placed in the County Archive for public access, as well as a booklet, CD’s and cassettes.

A DVD will also be produced and made available to schools and archives. The principle costs are £4720 for materials and equipment, £5730 for professional fees and expert advice, £2820 for design, printing and photography, £600 promotional costs, £100 volunteer travel.
