Raiders of the Roman Age

Raiders of the Roman Age
Location: Dorset

Indiana Jones wannabes will have the chance to explore the fascinating world of archaeology, watch archeaologists at work and step back in time thanks to the Royal Manor Arts College Heritage Project funded by an £24,996 LHI grant.

The Association for Portland Archaeology are holding a special week, from 10 - 17 April, at their site in Weston Road, Portland, Dorset, to give the public an insight into life during Roman times. Adding to the atmosphere will be Roman-British Man who will tell stories of his life in Roman Britain.

He will also be encouraging visitors to take part in hands-on activities such as making clay finger pots, carving spindle whorls and using them to spin wool. There will also be the opportunity to grind wheat on an Iron Age stone quern.
