Shaftesbury Hangings
Location: Dorset

The aim of the project was to investigate and promote specific areas of local heritage and encourage sensitive long term management of the steep slopes, sometimes known as the “Hangings”, that surround the historic hilltop town.

Shaftesbury Hangings leaflet coverEarly phases of the project produced survey reports of the history, archaeology and geology of the area and a long term management plan for the ancient Abbey Park.

A walks leaflet “Exploring Shaftesbury” was published in December 2004 and an information pack under the same title was printed and put on sale in April 2006.
