Training for CD project
Location: Gloucestershire

This page contains details of the training that Forest of Dean Local History Society members have received to help complete the LHI Mining Fatalities Project.

Local History Society Members Receive Training For The Mining Fatalities Project

Members of the Society were able to attend a special course run by Chris Morris,
a well known professional photographer who has produced numerous illustrations of
Forest of Dean mines.

Part of the course was a practical session which took place at the Phoenix Mine, which was worked until recently by a freeminer.

Chris pointed out ways of turning unpromising subjects into attractive photographs by using imagination and mixing general views with close up shots of debris and relics left behind after the works have been abandoned. Volunteers who are taking photographs for the project should now be able to make good use of Chris's hints and tips in producing illustrations for our CD.

In addition a number of other members have recently completed a web design course which will help enormously in producing the CD.
