The project has investigated, recorded and prompted restoration of milestones on the turnpikes passing through or adjacent to the parish of Hartpury. The work was organised and directed by the Hartpury Historic Buildings Trust and carried out by the Staunton and Corse Rangers. The girls, between 15 and 18, made visits to the county record office as well doing the field work to find and record the stones. The work was done in winter 2001 and 2002 as the milestones are much harder to find and photograph when obscured by summer growth!
