"Voices in the Forest"
Location: Gloucestershire

This project celebrated the heritage and culture of the Forest of Dean through highlighting one of its most famous residents, the author and playwright Dennis Potter.

A festival held in the Forest of Dean celebrated both Potter and the distinctiveness of the forest through performances, screenings, seminars and music. The event was recorded and documented in a publication and radio broadcast, with copies being placed with the Dean Heritage Centre and on the project website.

In the lead up to the festival, workshops were held in local schools to engage local children and teachers in the project, and local community groups also worked in partnership with the project to provide information and entertainment at the festival.

The principal costs of the project were £7,000 for materials and equipment, £5,800 for professional fees and expert advice, £3,000 for design, printing and photography, £3,900 for promotional costs and £1,600 for volunteer costs, transport and travel.
