Blagdon young and old make new connections
Location: North Somerset
November 2002
People of different generations in Bladgon are reaching out to each other, thanks to funding help from LHI
In Somerset’s Mendip Hills, the Blagdon Local History Society is creating a book and website to honour the village's history. Thanks to LHI funding, members of the group are planning a series of lectures that revolve around life as it was, a generation ago.
Besides preserving and protecting their common heritage, one of the most valuable rewards from this project has been the links and relationships forged between the people who are taking part. Making connections between past and present has brought together people from different generations in a variety of ways.
It's been an invaluable lesson bridging the gaps that all too easily arise between young and old, or between newcomers and those whose family have lived in a place for generations.
