Dolebury Warren Walling Video (37MB)

Dolebury Wall Restoration
Location: North Somerset

This project will involve the local community in the investigation of the historical and heritage value of dry stone walls and other man made features in the area using the restoration of a length of dry stone wall at dolebury Warren as a focus.

A heritage report will be compiled to record the locally distinctive style of Somerset dry stone walls and to make people aware of the importance of these features of the unique landscape character of the area which is part of the Mendips Hills AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty).

The Woodland Trust will work with the local community, the local branch of the Dry Stone Wall Association (DSWA) and the Mendips AONB team to restore this woodland boundary wall.

Participation will be encouraged through the restoration of the wall, dry stone walling training events, guided walks and by creating a diary display board using photographs taken of the project and text provided by those involved. Local village websites will document the progress of the project and share information with the wider community.
