Exmoor Oral History Project
Location: Somerset

This project covers the area of Exmoor that is located on the borders of Somerset and Devon.

The group, in collaboration with other community groups within Exmoor, has researched and identified areas of interest and potential contributors to the new archive.

Now volunteers are selecting contributors from a list, in order to best represent the varied aspects of life on Exmoor.

Audio recordings of their experiences are being made to a high standard, with support from a professional consultant. The recordings are being compiled and will result in a CD being available for public listening at interpretation facilities within the National Park.

A photographic catalogue will complement the recordings by adding photographic portraits of those who contributed their recollections in the first phase. There will also be written transcripts to go with the audio recordings.

The photographs are being taken by a local professional, while the transcription of the interviews is done by volunteers.
