Bradford on Avon celebrates
Location: Wiltshire
November 2002
The residents of Bradford-on-Avon are picking up more than embroidery skills on their LHI project.
Having a real purpose in view is a great incentive to learn new skills. That’s what project members on the Bradford-on-Avon Millennium Embroidery Project have discovered.

The volunteers have found that working together is the key to success

The initiative for the project came from members of the millennium celebration committee. They had the idea of creating a 12-panel embroidery depicting the 1,000-year history of the Wiltshire town and went on to run their own LHI funded project.
The volunteers have found working together is the key to success; caring about the heritage and sharing skills with others has led to new contacts and friendships. As one of the Bradford-on-Avon embroiderers said, “I love coming here, it’s so nice to meet new people with similar interests.”
