Deverill Valley W.I. Water Research Group
Location: Wiltshire

The aim of the project is to promote understanding and care for the Deverill Valley water resource through the collection of facts and folklore relating to the water and its uses and quality, both historically and at present, and its impact on local wildlife. It is expected that many of the six hundred local households will be engaged in the project through a series of organised lectures, walks and visits to the river valley. Involvement will also be achieved through the collection of memorabilia from local residents about the river.

An initial meeting to gauge support was attended by over fifty people. The main output of the project will be an illustrated book containing the results of the group’s research, which will be given freely to each household in the Deverill Valley Parishes. There will also be a photographic record of the project, investigative reports and an exhibition.
