The aim of the project has been to promote a variety of local heritage assets within the Pewsey Vale. This has been achieved through involving local people in investigating and recording aspects of their local heritage and producing:
- a self guided heritage trail;
- a promotional leaflet;
- an illustrated parish map
- a computerised map giving access to information about heritage features.
According to Mike Asbury, the success of the project has depended on the involvement of local people who meet as part of their daily lives and who have been able to develop the project as an extension to this friendly relationship.Mike counsels that the work involved in developing new computer software has taken longer and cost more than anticipated and welcomes the flexibility to use savings made elsewhere in the budget.
The computer facility will be available to those visiting the Pewsey Heritage Centre and will provide access to other previously produced local heritage material. This includes a published book, audio archives and exhibitions.
The group plan to develop the skills to manage this web page.
