Ashton Keynes Field names map [950 kb] pdf

Village Fields Map
Location: Wiltshire

The parish council is involving local people in:

  • researching local field names;
  • producing a map of the original names as was identified on an ordinance survey map of 1888;
  • depicting the village as it was over a 100 years ago.
  • The researching and production of the map is stimulating further investigation into the local heritage.

    Furthermore, the research is being of use to the parish council in choosing names for new roads created as a result of further development within the village, thus ensuring that local heritage will be reflected in the new names.

    The information which is being collected by the project is being made available on a website and in publicly accessible locations within the village.
