Firebird Heritage Project
Location: Birmingham
This is a joint project from five neighbouring schools within Birmingham. It aims to involve the pupils in exploring their heritage and researching the hidden stories about their communities. The children will work with the social history curator, city archaeologists, city rangers, local groups and people to bring history to life.
They intend to involve the wider community and local youth groups through workshops and events, with the project culminating in three local exhibitions.
Other outputs will include a web site and local heritage resource pack. It is hoped that the project will lead to a city wide programme of exhibitions and the creation of a cultural heritage trail.
