The Friends of Balaam’s Wood are just beginning the River Rea Heritage Trail project creating a 7-mile walking route along the River Rea in Birmingham.
The Friends of Balaam’s Wood are just beginning the River rea Heritage Trail project. We are creating a 7-mile walking route along the River Rea in Birmingham. The project will have interpretation panels at sites of historical and environmental interest, an interactive website, an education pack and an opening event in Kings Norton Park, at Easter 2005.
With so much work to do, we felt it should be first sphinx first!
A visit by some of our team to see a completed Local Heritage Initiative project seemed a good starting point.
A very successful project called “Walking in their footsteps” in Sutton Park, Birmingham was ideal. The Friends of Sutton Park Association created this trail, which explores the archaeology of this ancient park.
Simon, Chris and Mike went to view the Sutton Park site.
The visit and sharing the experiences of Janet Lea from F.O.S.P.A. has really given us enthusiasm for the task ahead.
