Heritage Upton Bishop

Heritage Upton Bishop
Location: Herefordshire

This is a community archaeology project designed to give the inhabitants of Upton Bishop some 'facts' about life in the village in early times. The project has grown out of the finding of a special carved stone fragment found in the village church and restored under another lottery scheme, which lead the the County Archaeologist to believe that there may perhaps have been a Roman Community based at Upton Bishop.

The key elements of the project are a landscape study of the area around the village church to include field walking, landscape walks, geophysical surveys and some excavation work will then be carried out.
