Birch Road Pond
Location: Shropshire

Birch Road Pond is a small nature reserve managed by volunteers from the Ellesmere Branch of the Shropshire Wildlife Trust. The project will conserve this valuable wetland habitat, turn it into an accessible amenity for local people and to increase local understanding of the heritage value of the site.

The group will engage members of the community in training to undertake conservation and research work, carry out wildlife survey work, and determine through peat analysis whether the pond was at one time part of the Mere.

They will also carry out research into the history of the site to produce a trail leaflet and an innovative piece of interpretation, which will reflect the findings of the project.
