Bridgnorth Museum Internet Access Project
Location: Shropshire
Northgate museum is a registered museum which contains 4,250 artefacts of mainly local interest and heritage ranging in time from Bridgnorth's foundation in the 11th Century to the present. The proposed project aims to produce a digital catalogue of these artefacts including photographs, sketches and notes where appropriate.
This will form the basis of public access via an internet website as well as being the museum's internal record of inventory. The local community will be encouraged to provide old postcards and photographs for the collection and through a weekly 'museum corner' article for the local paper which would show a photograph and notes about an item in the collection, appealing for further information e.g. family connections/place/etc. There will also be a museum open day when visitors will offer their recollections etc. about the collection.
The local schools will also be carrying out research into the collection of local coat-of-arms and the production of sketches and diagrams of a selection of articles for inclusion on the website.
