Jubilation
Location: Shropshire

Bishop's Castle is a remote market town in the south west of Shropshire. The project aimed to involve the local students from the town's community college in a reminiscence project.

The group wanted to investigate community memories of Royal Jubilees and occasions through the generations. This involved young people in investigating their local heritage and training local students and volunteers in historical research.

The intention was that the students would digitally record the stories, artefacts and ephemera concerned with royal events.

The Michaelmas Fair
The Jubilation Exhibition was part of Bishop's Castle Michaelmas Fair in 2002 and was open over two days in September 2002. This provided an opportunity to present some of the materials that had been developed as part of the project.

The main results of the combined efforts of the group and the Community College pupils were a combination of written, recorded and visual materials on CD. The exhibition enhanced this, and the group have produced a web site, for which there is a link on the right hand side of this page.

It has allowed the students a chance to work with professionals to develop a wide range of skills in various technologies, and develop their historical research skills!
