Wildlife Detectives
On Lyth Hill
With Shropshire Wildlife Trust

03 August 2005
Butterflies, grasshoppers, other minibeasts and barn owl pellets.

Children and adults enjoyed the wildlife detective day on Lyth Hill with Shropshire Wildlife Trust. Armed with nets, pooters, pots and white sheets, they looked for minibeasts in the grassland.

After the minibeast hunt they found out about barn owls and dissected owl pellets. The highest amount of skulls found in one pellet was 7!! Mice and voles had been eaten and a variety of bones was found in each pellet.

The children had a great time identifying the bones, as did the adults.
