Munslow God's Acre Project
Location: Shropshire

This project leads on from a successful series of surveying and environmental improvement works already undertaken by the Parish Council and Parochial Church Council as part of a Gods Acre project in the churchyard and burial ground. The aim is to carry out a series of surveys, restoration work and community events to improve understanding and care of the heritage of the area. They plan to undertake a tree survey, management plan, fungi survey, and a photographic and records archive of the churchyard and burial ground (£720). They also want to carry out restoration work to the stone wall boundary (£3,310), oak gate (£600) and the Victorian iron fencing (£5,581), in order to secure the area and make keep it stock proof for the plants and wildflowers. As the costs for these elements are a high portion of the grant the group have designed the project so that under the guidance of local craftsman the local community will be involved as well learning how to carry out stone walling and also being involved the restoration of the railings, learning about welding and construction, local people will be painting the restored fencing. They are also planning a walk and draw event led by a local historian and an artist, to raise awareness of the heritage features in the Parish and record evidence and ideas which will then form a local exhibition £2,537)
