Rectory Wood and Field Project
Location: Shropshire

The project aims to produce a management plan for Rectory Wood and Field by carrying out the necessary surveys of grassland, woodland, water courses and archaeology. The plan will include the results of the wide community consultation, already completed. The plan will set out the management of the site for conservation and recreation.

The project also aims to raise awareness of the site’s value and importance in heritage terms to local people and visitors. This work has already started and will continue throughout the life of this project.

The site is a very popular green space within the town of Church Stretton, giving easy access to The Long Mynd (SSSI). It is of value to people for recreation, etc., it is also important for wildlife and a site of historic and archaeological importance. It is suffering from lack of management and not reaching its potential in terms of community use.
