Shrewsbury Interpretation Scheme
Location: Shropshire

One of Shrewsbury's oldest sites is Old St Chad's, believed to be the site of an Anglo Saxon Monastery and perhaps even the location of the palace of the Kings of Powys.

The Civic Society is looking to investigate and promote the site which is now a churchyard.

The group will:

  • carry out a geographical survey;
  • produce a historical pamphlet;
  • hold exhibitions;
  • improve access to the site;
  • erect interpretation panels.
  • The group is also looking to work with a local charity, The Dog Rose Trust, to produce some interpretation panels for the visually impaired.
