Barford Heritage Initiative
Location: Warwickshire

The aim of the project is to create a record of village life from early times to the present day using as many sources as possible e.g. existing archive, publications, photos, maps and local people. A time-line charting the settlement of the village will also be produced.

The group has devised a village trail, marked by plaques, which includes local features such as a medieval dovecote and the site of a former village pound. A full colour leaflet has been produced. More comprehensive information and images will also be included on the website as a ‘virtual trail.’

In addition, the group has been trained to record reminiscences from elderly village residents, past and present.

Towards the end of the project, the group are going to stage a play in the form of vignettes based on the reminiscence work and on local families and events.

They will be producing both a book based on the research outcomes of the project, a comprehensive web site and DVD.
