Earlswood Lakes Interpretative Project
Location: Warwickshire

Earlswood Lakes were formed in 1821 to feed the Stratford Canal and have become an important local recreation site. Earlswood Lakes Partnership was formed in 1997 to act as a steering group for the management of the lakes.

The group is also working on a family discovery trail which will interpret the site's industrial, archaeological, ecological and cultural significance, as well as holding a series of events and an exhibition.

Six local residents took a lead in providing ideas for the information boards. Children from the local school provided illustrations and poetry, and researched local places of interest with stories. This all provided content for the boards and markers of the route around the lakes.

The group also helped to make the moulds for the iron castings, and produced an activity sheet for children to use on the trail. The information boards have areas they can take rubbings from.

Finally, the group have produced a display stand that has been used in the village hall and elsewhere.
