Guarlford History Project
Location: Worcestershire

The project was to research and publish the history and development of Guarlford from the beginning of the settlement to the present day. There were a number of fragmented accounts of Guarlford but there was no single, comprehensive and current written or published history.

The Guarlford History Group has produced and published a book "The Guarlford Story" researched through documentary resources, and also through oral evidence.

The Group is also continuing to compile an archive of photographs with the aim of publishing a second book called "The Guarlford Scene" in 2007. With the photographs come more memories to be added to the history of the parish.

As well as "The Guarlford Story", the group has created a "Parish of Guarlford" website with plans to add memories, possibly as audio clips and photographs on an ongoing basis. They also hope to produce a series of history walks around the parish.

The Guarlford History Group would like to thank the LHI for their invaluable support.

Local Community Involvement / Partnerships:
From the beginning of the project members of the community have been providing photographs, stories and memorabilia. A permanent display of photographs has now been set up in the Village Hall. Further reminiscences have been received since The Guarlford Story was published in August 2005 when residents met for a very enjoyable parish picnic. The Guarlford History Group has held three well attended presentations in the village hall which have been pleasant social occasions and a source of more historical data. It is hoped that the web site also covering the Parish Council, Parish Church, Village Hall and WI will be useful for the community at large.
