Mapping The Past, The Parish of Chaddesley Corbett
Location: Worcestershire
The project will trace the history of the Parish of Chaddesley Corbett using maps as a basis. The Parish is fortunate in having a number of surviving early maps which provide a wealth of knowledge but are not easily accessible.
Firstly, the group will be tracing the development and changes in housing, using the maps together with sources such census returns, leases, illustrations, photographs and sales particulars, which will also chart demographic changes. The group will then be charting the changes in land use and later changes in the Parish following the sale of the Throckmorton Estate, which was centred on the nearby Harvington Hall.
The information will be entered into a database and the results accessible through Worcestershire County Council's Tithe and Enclosure Map Projects Website.
