Wichenford Through History
Location: Worcestershire

The project’s aim is to study the development of the ancient woodland site in which Wichenford is situated, from when man first lived and settled there, to the present day.

The group hope to record and map the natural environment, through surveys and field walking. They will analyse 18th and 19th Century maps and historical documents including the Anglo-Saxon charters for the area.

They will also validate suggested landscape development. The group will be carrying out pollen analysis including training for local people. They shall also be working in the field with Dr Hooke who will be providing expert advice and training in analysis of past landscapes. Afterwards they will disseminating their results through a series of public lectures, leaflets, Parish Trails and a booklet.

The NBS money will be used to survey and map pollarded trees involving children from the junior school; this information will then be published and shared with the Woodland Trust.
