Heaton's Woodland Heritage
Location: Bradford

This group will involve the wider community in a project uncovering the natural and archaeological heritage of Heaton Woods.

This is a 40-acre site held in trust for the community by the group. The group will work in partnership with Bradford City Council's Arts, Heritage and Leisure Department to carry out a series of wildlife and archaeological surveys, guided walks and practical conservation activities throughout the project. The group have a membership of 300 and local schools are affiliated members to the Trust.

Volunteers will have opportunities to be trained in survey techniques (to uncover evidence of mine workings/brick works), community consultation, conservation skills such as coppicing and drystone walling, design and IT skills.

The wood is in a conservation area and is an area of ancient semi-natural woodland.
