Judy Woods Phase Two

Judy Woods Project
Location: Bradford

Royds Community Association aim to work with local residents, a history group, a wildlife group and local schools to explore the ecology, history and folklore of Judy Woods. The project will improve access, interpretation and educational facilities of the site, and utlimately drive forward its long-term conservation and community involvement.

The project will involve ecological and historical surveys of a variety of on-site practical activities and educational interpretation. Footpath improvements, in partnership with a group who have learning difficulties, will make the site accessible to previously excluded groups. A booklet will also be produced that collates the survey work. It is hoped that this will result in a valued local site being better managed and more constructively used and appreciated by locals.

Through their work with local interest and practical groups, the local community will have better access to, and gain a greater understanding of Judy Woods. It is an under-utilised and little understood site and this initiative will stimulate local pride to aid future good management.
