Sir Titus Salt and Saltaire

Saltaire Living History Project
Location: Bradford

The Saltaire Living History Project aims to bring together archival material relating to Saltaire World Heritage Site as a single publicly accessible, electronic resource. This will include material in both public and private ownership and will use the LHI web site as a host for a web-based archive.

Initiate a programme of community-led audio-visual oral history recordings of local people. This will focus on past, present and future activities associated with life in Saltaire - at school, at work, at home, at play. Volunteers will gain new skills in recording oral histories through training seminars and workshops. The project was launched at the Saltaire Festival in September '03.

Ensure flexibility in terms of access and display such that items from the Saltiare Living History Archive can be displayed at different locations within the village, taken into local schools and the wider community for the short-term events. The format will be linked where appropriate to the requirements of the National Curriculum.
