Trail Markers are laid along Spring Bank
Location: City of Kingston Upon Hull
One of the major parts of the Spring Bank Elephant Walk has been the design and installation of the trail markers, following the footsteps of the elephant as she walked from her temporary home in Pryme Street, along Spring Bank to the Zoological Gardens. Following our design workshop last year, Saffron Waghorn interpreted the designs created by the children and adults who attended and has carved 20 40 cm x 40 cm pavers in 3 different types of stone. Working with representatives from Hull City Council, we chose where the pavers were to be placed and these were laid by Hull City Council contractors during the second week of February. Imagine how excited the children (and adults admittedly) have been to see their work set into the pavement! The pavers lead walkers from Pryme Street, down Spring Bank and to Albany Street, where the trail culminates in the sculpture of the elephant standing on her trunk.
