A Look Back: 4 Pioneering Hull People
Location: East Riding of Yorkshire

The idea for the project came from the young people, who following on from a successful project looking at Hull in the World War II wanted to learn more about Hull's past.

The project will look at the lives of four of Hull's most famous residents. These will be Amy Johnson, William Wilberforce (abolitionist), Phillip Larking (20th Century Poet),and Andrew Marvell (poet from 17th Century).

The group will undertake desk based research into the lives (8 X weekly workshops), the schools they attended, their achievements and their impact on their home city. The group will share knowledge with Hull based research groups and archives and these resources will be used to gather information. Once the information is gathered, the group will design and produce an E book, which will be distributed to the community.

An exhibition celebrating the lives of the chosen subjects will also be held. This will be designed by the overall group, with contributions from the whole community. The exhibition will be open to all.
