Village Voices
Location: East Riding of Yorkshire

This project aims to engage rurally isolated and socially deprived communities and individuals in the area to research and tell the story of their customs and traditions, ie agricultural heritage, education and schooling, traditional employment and travelling around the area.

The group will research this by interviewing members of each community in meetings in village halls and community centres.
Volunteers will edit the recordings to be broadcast on Seaside Radio. The recordings will be available on CD. Volunteers will video the interviews to create a DVD documenting the project including a record of photographs.

The project will engage children interviewing members of old people's homes and reach socially excluded farms and hamlets as part of the research.

Participants will be trained in using digital media, creative writing and editing skills and interview techniques.

Local Community Involvement / Partnerships:
The first planning meeting was held on 28th February to decide which villages we were going to research first, and the timeline of who, what , where, when and how!

Hollym with Holmpton are our first selelection, and we will be issuing flyers, posters and press information to the community week commencing April 19th. We have spent some time looking at the best way of researching information, and will see just how well this works very soon.

Anyone wanting information or to get involved can call Lyz on 01964 611427 or mobile 07903 729993.
